Why your donation matters!
Thanks to the skills of our trained advisers, every £1 donated to this service results in £5 raised from grants and government funding for people in Rutland and the surrounding area.
The advisers cannot change the diagnosis, but offer essential practical advice and assistance. All of the advice is free, confidential, impartial and independent with a unique one point of contact – you need only tell your story once.
Improving the lives of people in Rutland and the surrounding community
For Rutland raises funds to pay for specialist advisers, who provide free, confidential, independent, non medical advice to people of all ages, who are living with long term conditions in Rutland and the surrounding area.
1 in 4 people in the UK suffer from long term conditions, such as cancer, strokes, dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, heart disease and mental illness. This affects every part of our community and people of all ages.
The point of diagnosis is often just the beginning. Living with the practical problems associated with long conditions can be overwhelming at a time when people are at their most vulnerable.
How ‘For Rutland’ makes a difference
Based at Citizens Advice Rutland, the trained advisers help local residents and their families, with practical problems that seem insurmountable to many people at the time, such as;
Reduced mobility Relationships Access to necessary NHS services
Difficulties with employment Keeping up with mortgage payments
Assistance with transport to hospital appointments
Maximising income and managing debt …
Also, they ensure that clients are able to get access to essential funding and necessary equipment through grants and benefits. Without the knowledge of the trained advisers, this remains a mine field to most people.
